Pedalo Challenge 2014

Here at Cumbria Quality Care we wanted to set ourselves a challenge to raise money for the stroke association and local charity Eden Carers. We came up with the idea to pedalo from coast to coast in Scotland. We plan to do this in 4 days which will set a new world record. The challenge will start on the 16th June 2014, we will be starting at Fort William and travelling along the Caledonian canal and across 3 lochs including loch ness and finishing in Inverness! We will be doing this challenge in partnership with The Living Well trust which is a national charity based in Carlisle, they are a group that accepts, supports and empowers vulnerable young people and adults. For more information about the great work that they do please visit www.livingwelltrust.org. There will be a team of 4 people in 2 different pedalos and 1 support driver that will be road side should we need any assistance. Alan Baxter, Geoff Baxter, Barry Watson and Alex Ward will be in the pedalos and Lea Milligan will provide the support, the training for this event has already began and we are working hard in order to be ready for the event. In total we will travel 96 miles in the pedalo that only goes an average speed of 2.5 mph so it will be 10 hours a day in the pedalo and a total of 500,000 turns of the pedals. I really hope that people will get behind this event and show us your support. We aim to raise £4000 for two great charities but that will not be easy we need everyone to dig deep and sponsor us. details of how to sponsor us will be posted shortly and for regular updates on our progress and total amount raised please follow us on facebook, fort William to inverness pedalo challenge, or on twitter @pedalo4charity.
