Job Description for Support Worker
Job Purpose

To implement support plans by directly providing practical, physical, social, and emotional care in service users own homes. To create a supportive atmosphere in which service users can achieve maximum independence. To follow Cumbria Quality Cares policies and procedures.

Accountable To

The registered manager – Sharon Baxter

Main Activities

The specific requirements of each assignment will vary, and these will be discussed with you before you accept the assignment. You will be required to support service users with a variety of needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairment, learning disabilities.

As a support worker you must be sensitive and responsive to the race, culture, religion, age, disability, gender, and sexuality of the service user who is receiving support and their representatives.

All staff will be required to complete a criminal records check and have suitable references.

All staff must be willing to commit to completing training required to fulfil the role.

Specific Duties

You will provide support according to the service users specific needs. Your duties will include:

  • Communicating effectively with the service user, the multi-disciplinary team and Cumbria Quality Care
  • Keeping accurate, factual written accounts of your time with the service user
  • Following the Cumbria quality Care policy with Medication as outlined in the policies and procedures
  • An awareness of the service users emotional and spiritual needs
  • Observing and following the Cumbria Quality Care health and safety policy
Personal Care

Your duties may include:

  • Washing and bathing
  • Use of bath aids
  • Assisting the service user to shave
  • Mouth care
  • Assisting the client to dress and undress
  • Eye care
  • Pressure area care
  • Catheter Care
  • Emptying colostomy bags
  • Management of incontinence
  • Management of MRSA including information sharing if client is transferred
  • Exercise as appropriate to the service users abilities
  • Moving and Handling
Other Duties

You may be required to perform tasks such as:

  • Meal preparation
  • Light household duties which may include laundry, dusting, vacuuming, tidying, bed making, keeping the refrigerator clean and ensuring the contents have not expired
  • Escorting service users to appointments
  • Making transport arrangements
  • Shopping – ensuring all receipts are kept
Knowledge & Expertise
  • General health and social care experience
  • Ideally some experience in supporting service users in their own home
  • Ideally Health and social care diploma level 2 or 3

Team Leader

Job Description for Team Leader
Job Purpose

Accountable To

Main Activities

To mentor staff, monitor staff, identify any training needs, monitor that paperwork is completed correctly and report any concerns to the management team.

To monitor that service users needs are being met, paperwork is up to date and report any concerns to the management team.

Specific Duties
  • To mentor new and existing staff to fulfil their roles to the best of their abilities.
  • To be a good role model to all staff and promote Cumbria Quality Care’s standards and expectations.
  • To set an example to the rest of the team, as a team leader you will be expected to lead from the front.
  • To not take part in any activity that could be seen as detrimental to the company.
  • To support new staff through the shadowing and induction process.
  • To be supportive to all staff and signpost individuals to the appropriate support.
  • To identify any training needs within the staff team.
  • To identify and praise good practise.
  • To identify any bad practice and report it to the management team.
  • To monitor that staff are adhering to all policies and procedures as set out by Cumbria Quality Care Limited and working in line with all of Care Quality Commissions standards and current legislation.
