Our team leaders carry out all of the same tasks as our Support Workers, however they also have some additional responsibilities.

These responsibilities are centred around supporting, mentoring and developing support staff and providing an essential communication link between the office staff and support staff as well as ensuring service users needs are met and seeking opportunities for service users.

Job Description for Team Leader
Job Purpose

To provide support to support workers and liaise with the management team to ensure the high standards of Cumbria Quality Care are achieved.

Accountable To

The registered manager – Sharon Baxter

Main Activities

To mentor staff, monitor staff, identify any training needs, monitor that paperwork is completed correctly and report any concerns to the management team.

To monitor that service users needs are being met, paperwork is up to date and report any concerns to the management team.

Specific Duties
  • To mentor new and existing staff to fulfil their roles to the best of their abilities.
  • To be a good role model to all staff and promote Cumbria Quality Care’s standards and expectations.
  • To set an example to the rest of the team, as a team leader you will be expected to lead from the front.
  • To not take part in any activity that could be seen as detrimental to the company.
  • To support new staff through the shadowing and induction process.
  • To be supportive to all staff and signpost individuals to the appropriate support.
  • To identify any training needs within the staff team.
  • To identify and praise good practise.
  • To identify any bad practice and report it to the management team.
  • To monitor that staff are adhering to all policies and procedures as set out by Cumbria Quality Care Limited and working in line with all of Care Quality Commissions standards and current legislation.
  • To monitor that all Cumbria Quality Care paperwork is completed correctly and report any issues or concerns to the management team.
  • To monitor that all staff are adhering to Cumbria Quality Care’s uniform policy and report any issues to the management team.
  • To monitor the behaviours and attitudes of staff and identify any areas of concern or issues to enable the management team to investigate and offer support where required.
  • To ensure any changes in service users needs are identified and reported to the management team.
Knowledge & Expertise
  • Ideally 3 years health and social care experience
  • Ideally 2 years experience in supporting service users within their own homes
  • Ideally 1 years experience with Cumbria Quality Care Limited
  • Ideally Health and social care diploma level 3

An enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau.
