Infection Prevention and Control

This training develops our staff’s knowledge and understanding of infection prevention and control, ensuring they can recognise infection risks, prevent the spread of infections and maintain safe, hygienic environments when supporting individuals.

The training covers essential infection prevention and control principles, including how infections are transmitted, effective hand hygiene, the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning and disinfection procedures, safe waste disposal and recognising signs of infection.

Staff also learn the importance of following infection prevention and control policies and procedures, identifying potential risks and taking appropriate action to protect themselves and the individuals they support.

As part of Cumbria Quality Care’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care, infection prevention and control training is mandatory for all staff, whether supporting individuals within our centre or in their own homes.

Through this training, we ensure our staff have the knowledge, skills and confidence to maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, minimise the risk of infection and protect the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone we support.
